Women's Development Center (WDC) is a non-profit housing agency that began as a grassroots effort to assist homeless women and children and started housing families in 1990. WDC has been providing quality housing services to the homeless and working poor of Southern Nevada for the past 20 years. WDC has expanded its mission to address the gaps in permanent housing, support services for families and individuals in need throughout Clark County. All WDC housing programs are linked to a variety of support services, which help residents achieve self-sufficiency and housing stability. WDC employs a continuum-of-care approach, with each housing component complementing the next level of service offered. Services include Transitional Housing for families and senior women, financial assistance for the homeless to move into permanent housing, affordable rentals for families, individuals, seniors, and people living with HIV/AIDS, and homeownership opportunities.
In an effort to compliment our housing services, WDC offers a wide range of ancillary services such as Case Management, Job Development, Housing Counseling, Money Management, Credit Counseling, Homebuyer Education, Foreclosure Prevention, as well as various other support services. The agency assists over 2,500 needy households a year.
The organization holds a number of certifications, which reinforces the agency's desire to provide the highest quality housing services possible. The agency qualifies as a Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO) under federal law, a certified HUD Housing Counseling Agency, and is a United Way participating agency.
